Catnip: (Nepeta cataria) has antispasmodic properties and is beneficial for calming digestion and cramps. It is also considered a carminative, meaning it relieves gas and can help with constipation and bloating. Catnip contains nepetalactone which is similar to the valepotriates found in the commonly used herbal sedative, valerian. This has a strong calming action on the body which may boost mood and reduce anxiety, restlessness, and nervousness. Catnip tea has long been used to treat insomnia, anxiety and headaches.
Lavender: (Lavandula angustifolia) is well documented to aid with afflictions such as insomnia, nervousness, anxiety, headaches, chemotherapy side effects, acne, burns, eczema, hair loss and mood swings. Evidently, chamomile possesses properties that can help ease inflammation, spasms, flatulence, promote sleep and protect against the bacteria that cause stomach ulcers.
Passionflower: (Passiflora incarnata) is perennial climbing vine native to southeastern North America. The main applications of Passionflower is in inducing sleep, relaxation and reducing anxiety.
